Current Updates:
1. Jake is finishing up a semester at BYU-I and will be staying in Idaho during the winter. We just hope he doesn't freeze to death. He will be taking a skiing class and working. Over the summer he will continue working for a fly fishing shop just outside of Yellowstone. If you need any fishing gear he is your man!! Next fall he will actually GRADUATE from BYU-I with a degree in Construction Management (prayers are answered!) He is still single and looking sooo if you know of any cute outdoorsy girls please let us know!
2. Cassie is teaching 5th grade in Spanish Fork, Utah. She has 26 kids that keep her on her toes. She also just got called to be a Relief Society President in her ward (she is not sure how she feels about this calling.) She too is currently single and looking. Her requirements for a husband include the following.... 1) tall, dark, and handsome 2) athletic preferably has a few gold medals 3) has the last name of phelps and the first name of michael. If you want to know more about her visit her blog at cawsassi.blogspot.com>
3. Roxanne is working on her degree at BYU-I. She recently changed her major to english and and is toying with the idea of teaching middle or high school. She will be spending her semester off in Provo with Cassie. Hopefully the two of them don't get into too much trouble.
4. Holly is a senior at Valley and loving every second of it minus the ACTs/SATs, AP Exams, College Applications etc. She has applied to both BYU and BYU-I and hopes to hear back towards the end of Jan/early Feb. We are confident she will get accepted but your prayers are always welcome and appreciated. She was the Drum Major or leader of the school marching band this year and will play rugby again in the spring. She is our world traveler and spent 15 days traveling all over Europe this summer (pictures to come).
5. Brendan is 15 and just made JV basketball! He has practiced hard and lifted weights (he likes to show off his muscles hahahaha) to get ready for the season. We are excited to help cheer him on. He worked so hard over the summer to get ready for tryouts. He loves being in high school and spending every extra available minute with his friends. He is turning into a true teenager (thank goodness our last one!)
6. Brent and I are doing well. Busy as usual. Brent is now the bishop of our ward and is very very busy. The hardest part is staying up late answering the phone and replying to emails. He is not much of night person-turning into a dead fish at around 9PM. His mom has moved in with us, and the last three months has been life changing. It has been a great learning experience...and very humbling. I am grateful though that we have the opportunity and ability to take care of his mom. Some days are good and enjoyable, some days are hard and down right maddening. We keep trudging along though, trying to find out what works and how we can try and help Millicent enjoy being surrounded by family. I have told my kids that when I get old and ornery they have my permission to slap me in the head and say "smarten up". Jake said "Don't worry mom I do one better, I'll be like the Eskimos and put you on an ice berg and send you out to sea." I had a good laugh with that one. I love my son's sense of humor.
